I'm honestly shaken up with this so I hope you refrain from negative comments. I'm here to ask for insights and also maybe to let you guys know this can happen.

I was about to take my golden retriever to a park. My dog was already inside when I remembered to load a few stuff I needed take to my sister along the way. I didn't realize I left my key inside the car when I closed the front door. My car was off and I was locked out inside, but thankfully the sunroof was open just a crack. I was also lucky that we were just about to leave home so I could get my spare key from inside the house fast. My dog is okay, I got him quickly but I'm terrified of this happening again when I'm not home. I can't imagine what would have happened on a hot day.

I remember getting this car because of its intelligent key, like it has this anti-lockout function to prevent situations like this specifically. But it still happened and I don't know what could've gone wrong. Has anyone else experienced this with their new QX60? Any idea what could be causing this and how to prevent this from happening again? I'd appreciate any advice!

Good to hear your dog's fine. Sometimes the QX60 has trouble spotting the key if it's in a bag or too far from a sensor. The dealer can check the key fob signal and system setup to sort it out

That sounds really stressful, do you know if your QX60's anti-lockout feature is fully activated or if there might be a setting to double-check? Have you contacted Infiniti about possible system glitches?

Heck of an experience. With the QX60, the intelligent key is supposed to prevent lockouts, but issues can still happen if the key battery is low, the car doesnt detect the key properly or the doors weren't fully closed when locking. Some owners add a spare key in a secure place or use a keyfob app if available. You might also have a dealer check the system to make sure the anti-lockout feature is working correctly like @Supees suggested
